Victoria is the state which keeps on giving. However, like other states the landscapers are forever changing. After the border from South Australia the coastline in sculpted by the crashing waves from the mighty ocean which barrels in. The highlights of this stretch of coastline is the great ocean road. A winding coastal road built by returned servicemen from WW1 its a pretty spectacular road with literally views around every corner.
Directly north of the great ocean road, you have the Grampians National Park. This is a great area for those who love hikes, lookouts waterfalls and mind blowing scenery.
To the east of the state you have Gippsland. With rural little towns surrounded by national parks and pristine coastline. This region offers a lot.
North of Melbourne, heading east you’ll head up into the Victorian high country. With Mount Buller and Mount Hotham both receiving a good dusting of snow in winter, it’s definitely a lot cooler than Melbourne.
To the North East of Melbourne you’ve got the gold rush towns of Ballarat and Bendigo. So rich in history with early settlers in Australia and the gold rush days.
Then you’ve got the border towns, just separated by the Murray River. Victoria to the south and New South Wales to the north. That is literally what separates the 2 states.
In addition we haven’t even talked about Melbourne or sport yet. Well cover those more in-depth in other posts.
